Easter Sunday, 2011

The Alter on Easter Sunday Morning

On Easter Sunday Laura Parker, who put up the living Forsythia branches and the arrangements of palms and flowers around the choir loft for the several Sundays leading to Easter, finished our celebration in the Sanctuary with beautiful and artistically arranged tulips and lilies twined around the altars, the central table and baptismal font.

Randy Cook gathered together a group of the men to prepare a breakfast for everyone on Easter Morning.  The congregants and their families enjoyed scrambled eggs, sausages, pancakes, and bagels with all the fixings, fresh fruit and juices, and coffee.  The men set up the Fellowship Hall, did the cooking and cleaned up afterward while Reverend Gates showed the last movie in the Lenten study series titled  "24 Hours That Changed the World.”

After a thanksgiving prayer for the breakfast, the floral displays, the study and the Easter morning, the congregation filled the Sanctuary for the service.  Four of our young ladies using Rev. Gates ideas, under the direction of Laura Parker, who also made the costumes, and with the help of Allison Muenzer who helped with the choreography, presented an interpretive Easter / Spring dance around the flower laden altar, and our choir, under the direction of Julia Belayeva-Hull, our organist / Choir Director, did an outstanding job.  The Reverend Dr. Sharlyn DeHaven Gates' planned the whole Easter study and Celebration with great care and love for our church and its members.
